@nondham : How much should you cock the wrist? ⠀ ⠀ For the standard golf shot, we want to set the club shaft at about 90 degrees to your lead arm by the time you reach the top of your backswing. Usually I prefer to see this happen at around half swing or lead arm parallel to the ground. ⠀ ⠀ If you set it slightly faster than lead arm parallel or a bit later, that’s nothing to worry about. The key thing to avoid here is cocking your wrists too little (obtuse angle = over 90 degrees from lead arm and club shaft), or cocking your wrists too much (acute angle or less than 90 degrees from your lead arm and the club shaft).⠀ ⠀ This is because we want to strike the ball with an optimal angle of attack, i.e. not too steep or shallow. ⠀ ⠀ If you cock your wrist too much, or your thumbs are pointing back and down at you, at the top of your backswing, then your angle of attack is more likely to be too steep. ⠀ ⠀ If this is the case, you want want to visualize and practice your backswing with your thumb pointing more away from you at the top of your backswing so that you can create an ideal wrist set for an optimum angle of attack at impact, i.e. more shallow.⠀ ⠀ The opposite is true when you set the club too little, or your thumbs are pointing away from you at the top of your backswing. Then your angle of attack tends to be more shallow.
